Brand Identity
A new look for a new direction
We started by developing a brand identity that drew inspiration from architecture, utilizing lines, patterns, and other concepts you’d find in drafting to symbolize the design, planning, and development of sites out customers would execute with our products. Ian Walker, our Creative Director, came up the wordmark early on in the process to work off of. Together with the other designers and product manager, I led the effort to create the brand guidelines for the new Intelier product suite.

Design System
The first phases of a design system
I analyzed the current platform and took inventory of all of the existing components, and talked to the other designers and developers looking to identify missing components or functionality, and listen to feedback on how the CMS could be improved in their minds. Armed with new insights, I got to work designing new components visual style to match the brand – keeping what worked, replacing some components, and adding to others, building library with accessibility in mind.
The majority of existing CMS features had the same sort of page content and purpose – they were comprised of form fields and managed content display on the live site, so I also set out to create a page template that could be utilized for this popular use case.

Spring cleaning
Over the years of working on LiveCMS 5, a backlog of ideas for improvement had built up, so we were able to hit the ground running when it came to remodelling the information architecture. The structure of existing "modules" were reorganized to be more logical and comprehendible under the umbrella of our core products.
Exploring enhancements for the Page Builder
A core feature of Intelier products was the Page Builder – a tool users could use design page content and layouts in various products using Blocks. The existing Page Builder only utilized form fields, and we wanted to explore the idea that content could always be previewed in real-time as the user worked. I believed this kind of direct feedback was essential for a better experience.
